For those of you who read my post a few months ago about my family boycotting Mcdonalds, you’ll understand why I’m so excited! AFA called off the boycott when McDonald’s agreed to changes. So that means I can have some good ole McDonald’s fries! It’s such a great feeling to know that our efforts paid off and actually made a difference. A big “Thank You” to all who participated in the boycott, I know it was hard at times and you felt like you just HAD to have some good fries and a hot apple pie, but, you made a huge difference by sticking with it and that makes it all worth it right?

Well as one boycott ends, another begins…..

My good friend Courtney told me the other day about Google being a supporter of gay rights. Bummer. You can read her post about it here  and you can read the official article from Google here. Her family also set up a boycott site for Google called Shame on Google if you want to go over and sign up.

Well, thats all the news I have for right now=)

Give it all for Christ pt.2~Pick Up Your Cross

” If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:24-26)

Notice that Jesus didn’t say “Pick up your cross when it’s convenient for you, then when you get tired or have something else to do just sit it down and come back and get it when you have the time.”  No, he said pick it up and follow me. Jesus’ life was not an easy one, he was mocked, beaten, humiliated, and hung on the cross! But through all that he never sinned, he could have called 10,000 angels, he could have gotten out of the whole thing but instead he endured the painful death on the cross as the last and perfect sacrifice.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:25-27  “Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I was adrift at sea; on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers; in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure.”  Paul went through many persecutions for his faith, but through all of those persecutions he didn’t lose sight of his goal, he never set aside faith to make his life easier or more convenient.

We need to be like Paul when he said in Philippians 1:21“For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”  Christ meant everything to him! His whole life revolved around Jesus! That’s how we need to be, even if means giving up money, a job, a sport, or even a vacation. Following Christ isn’t an thing to do, Jesus never even hinted that it would be easy, he said “For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (Matthew 7:14).

So, yes we will have to face many hard things from this world that might seem overwhelming and unfair at the time, but we have so many advantages  that this world doesn’t have. We have a living God who loves us and to whom we can go  and lean on when we’re tired and worn out, a Savior who has paid the price for our sins, and the hope and assurance of Heaven. All these blessings far out weigh the hardships we might have to endure.

Give it all for Christ pt.1~Our focus

As the summer’s beginning to wind down everybody’s trying to get their last vacation or activity squeezed in before school starts back up. With all the busyness of summer and the Holidays not too far off, what are we making our top priority? Are we putting Christ before all of our plans? If not we may need to change our plans.

Matthew 6:33 says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.”  What our focus should be and what we should be working for and seeking at all times is God and His kingdom. Before a vacation, before a ball game, before anything! He should come first in all that we do, because when it’s all said and done all this other stuff won’t mean a thing, the only thing that will matter is God. If we served Him faithfully and sincerely, If we obeyed His word and strived to become what He wanted us to be.

It’s not that vacations and other fun activities are wrong  and that we should never do them, but it’s when those things start  taking front seat to our focus and priorities that make those things wrong. Because if we start choosing something else over God then we’re making whatever it is we chose our idol. If we’re letting something get in the way of us reading and studying God’s Word, going to worship services, or praying, then we’re saying whatever is preventing us from doing these things is more important than our relationship with God.  “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,  looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”  Hebrews 12:1&2.

Christ is supposed be the center of our lives, the core of it. Not just a piece here and there when we feel like it. Christ isn’t supposed to be on the sidelines, He should be part of everything we do.

Blessings,

Jade
